Tell me about your latest book and why we should read it?
My debut thriller is called Trust Me and was released by HQ Digital (an imprint of HarperCollins) in March. It centres around two strangers who connect (literally) via a cold-call.Lana needs to sell a holiday, fast. Stuck in Tenerife, in a dead end job, she never expected a response quite like Liam’s.
Thousands of miles away a phone rings. Liam never intended to pick up, he’s too busy choosing the quickest way to die. But at least someone should know the truth before he goes, even if that someone is a stranger.
As time runs out both are drawn to the other, expressing thoughts they never imagined they would share.
When you’re about to die will your secrets even matter?
Read my book! It’s a completely unique storyline and I’ve been described as ´a different type of author with huge potential´ and, for good measure, it’s currently only 99p!
If someone was to write your life story what would the title be?
The Drama Queen
What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?
I’m fairly new to the writing scene so I haven’t had any of yet! But I wait in hope 😉
If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?
I´d write with Mark Edwards as I’m a huge fan of his work and it’s through reading his success story that I decided to give writing a go… and it paid off!
Tell me something nobody else knows about you (yet!).
I’m planning to co-write a book with a well known author very soon (but shhh!)
Finally please recommend 3 books that you have recently read and tell me why you’ve chosen these.
1, Liar by K.L Slater– It’s unnerving and edgy with a shocking twist! I recently visited my family in the UK and made excuses half way through the day to sneak off and read this book.
2, Our Little Secret by Darren O´Sullivan. He’s a new author signed with HQ Digital and his debut thriller, released this month, is utterly compelling and unique.
3, The Lucky Ones by Mark Edwards! Quite possibly his best book to date.
Who is Gemma Metcalfe?
Gemma Metcalfe is a Manchester born author who now lives in sunny Tenerife with her husband Danny and two crazy rescue dogs Dora and Diego. By day, Gemma can be found working as a Primary school teacher, but as the sun sets, she ditches the glitter and glue and becomes a writer of psychological thrillers. An established drama queen, she admits to having a rather warped imagination, and loves writing original plots with shocking twists. The plot for her debut novel ´Trust Me,´ is loosely based on her experiences as a call centre operative, where she was never quite sure who would answer the phone…
