Tell me about your latest book and why we should read it?
The Party is about Rachel, a woman who wakes up after a party in a strange room, with the feeling that something bad has happened to her, but she has no memory of the night before. When she starts investigating what really happened that night she finds that her family and friends all have a different version – and they all seem to have something to hide. You should read it because it’s awesome (obvs) – and also because I think we can all relate in some way to some of the relationships in the book.
If someone was to write your life story what would the title be?
Probably something along the lines of, ‘Organised Chaos – winging it all the way”.
What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?
I’ve never really had any weird requests, but I once did a book signing in NYC after a panel with Charlaine Harris (author of the TrueBlood/Sookie Stackhouse series) and she told me that she’d been asked to sign a bag full of blood
If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?
If Stephen King gave me a ring I’d be up for it. I don’t think I’m weird/gory enough for him though. Also Patricia Highsmith.
Tell me something nobody else knows about you (yet!).
I only ever had one secret and you outed me already on your blog! We still don’t talk about the dead cat, OK? The only other thing is that most people know about my love of cheese…not that many know that I’m actually lactose intolerant (and therefore slowly killing myself with cheese haha)
Finally please recommend 3 books that you have recently read and tell me why you’ve chosen these.
I’ve read some crackers lately!
My favourites recently have been Vox by Christina Dalcher, because it is terrifyingly believable, Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman, because the quality of the writing is just brilliant, and the suspense had me on the edge of my seat, and finally I’m currently reading Hydra by Matt Wesolowski and it is actually scaring the pants off me.
Who is Lisa Hall? Lisa loves words, reading and everything there is to love about books. She has dreamed of being a writer since she was a little girl – either that or a librarian – and after years of talking about it, was finally brave enough to put pen to paper (and let people actually read it). Lisa lives in a small village in Kent, surrounded by her towering TBR pile, a rather large brood of children, dogs, chickens and ponies and her long-suffering husband. She is also rather partial to eating cheese and drinking wine.
