Tell me about your latest book and why we should read it?
My book Descent to Hell is set (surprise!!) in hell. Not the hell where you have to spend your vacation with your nagging kids and the in-laws and all…
My version of hell is quite different from what people might have read before…and with autumn and Halloween approaching rapidly it’s a hellishly great read for gloomy days.
If someone was to write your life story what would the title be?
She didn’t give too many fucks
What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?
As I am quite the newbie unfortunately I haven’t a juicy tale to tell yet – wouldn’t it be saucy if I could boast that a handsome guy wanted my autograph on his balls, alas no such luck yet…erm, note to future fans, I will only sign shaved nuts!
If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?
The one and only Sir Alfred Hitchcock…we’d either kill each other or it would be an awesome collaboration
Tell me something nobody else knows about you (yet!).
I sold my soul to both, the Devil and his younger brother, but both have no idea and it’ll be quite a surprise for them when I die…
Finally please recommend 3 books that you have recently read and tell me why you’ve chosen these.
The Troop by Nick Cutter – this is so good I wish I had written it. A group of teenage boy scouts are trapped on a remote island with a danger unlike any other threatening to destroy them in a most gruesome way. It’s extremely dark and disturbing, gory and gag-inducing and I can’t recommend it highly enough for horror fans.
A Killer Harvest by Paul Cleave will be one of the thrillers to read in autumn – it’s about a blind teenager who can see after breakthrough surgery but he also gets into the focus of a serial killer on the loose. This one has more than one vicious plot twist.
House of Spines by Michael J. Malone – A young man inherits a gloomy estate from an obscure relative and as soon as he moves in he starts sensing the presence of a ghost…or is he imagining it because of his mental health problems? A wonderfully creepy, sexy and dark thriller!
Who is Nic Parker? Nic Parker was born in 1971 and her love for everything creepy and the horror genre started in her early childhood.
She lives with her husband and six cats in rural Rhineland-Palatinate.
Descent to Hell is her debut novel.
She is currently working on the sequel to Descent to Hell and a non-supernatural thriller set in sunny but deadly California.
