Tell me about your latest book and why we should read it?
My latest book is called Differently Normal. It’s basically a story of family and sacrifice. Maddy cares for her autistic sister Bee. She has no time for friendships let alone romance, but when she meets Albert all that changes. You should read it because it will open your eyes to what life as a young carer is like and it also gives an insight into living with autism. Plus, it’s a beautiful little love story.
If someone was to write your life story what would the title be?
She did what?
Or
Oh not her again
What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?
I actually got a message on the weekend from someone asking desperately for my help. I answered, a bit perplexed and then she asked if I were the one from the Family Mission Centre. Er, no. That would be the other Tammy (Lynn) Robinson, the one who writes religious books. Sorry.
(I did worry about her for the rest of the day but she never wrote again once she knew I wasn’t who she was after.)
If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?
Ooh tough one. I’d have to say either Terry Pratchett, because his imagination was just brilliant, or Marian Keyes, because she’s hilarious and I’d spend all day laughing.
Tell me something nobody else knows about you (yet!).
Nobody else in the entire world? That’s tough. I’m terrible at keeping secrets! Um I love being pregnant and giving birth but I struggle with the first six months or so. I get terrible post natal anxiety and worry constantly that something might go wrong, to the point where my husband never went anywhere alone with our children until they were at least nearly a year old. I felt awful for him but just couldn’t help it. Thankfully he has been really understanding about it all.
Finally please recommend 3 books that you have recently read and tell me why you’ve chosen these.
The Secret – by Rhonda Byrne.
A cousin told me about The Law of Attraction a few months ago and I started reading about it. I have been following the process and all I can say is, yes, it works. It definitely works. Here I am with a publishing contract!
The Little Book of Hygge – Meik Wiking
Fell in love with the cover and the idea of it. It’s full of gorgeous photos that spark inspiration and make you feel all happy and joyous towards life. If you’re feeling a little bogged down or stressed out give it a read. It will make you think of summer nights and campfires on the beach.
A Walk in the Woods – Bill Bryson
I love Bill Bryson, he’s one of the funniest travel writers with a wickedly dry sense of humour. I’m slowly working my way through his books and found this one of his best. Kind of like Wild by Cheryl Strayed but more down to earth.
Who is Tammy Robinson: Tammy Robinson is a contemporary author from the beautiful geothermal area of the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. Due to the sulphur that seeps from the ground the place smells remarkably like rotten eggs, (or someone farted), but you shouldn’t let that put you off visiting.
After years spent working her way round the world, including on cruise ships and for Club Med resorts, Tammy settled back in New Zealand with her husband, their two girls, a newborn baby boy, a mad black Labrador and a grumpy cat who every summer requires a two week course of anti-anxiety medication to stop him from pulling his own fur out. She’s seriously thought of shipping him off to live permanently in cooler climates. It would probably be cheaper.
When not being drooled/vomited/pooped on by the kids or staring out the window daydreaming of adventures to be had in far flung places, Tammy manages to squeeze in some writing. She has seven novels to her credit, and is currently at work on her eighth. She has no plans to stop writing, EVER, and she hopes you enjoy reading her books as much as she enjoys writing them.
Tammy dreams of showing off this beautiful, incredible world to her children, and is intent on squeezing every last drop out of life.
