A Quickie With

A Quickie with Alan Jones

Tell me about your latest book and why we should read it?

My latest book is a WW2 story with a Holocaust element, set in Germany, Denmark and Scotland. I’m still researching it but I hope readers will enjoy it. I hope the characters will have real depth and emotion. I have most of the story in my head but I need to make sure all the details are correct.

If someone was to write your life story what would the title be?

Persistent twat. 🙂

What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?

Nothing really, TBH. Sorry. I have had to be ‘rescued’ twice from fans who were a wee bit full on.

If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?

If I could co-write with anyone, it would have to be Irvine Welsh.

Tell me something nobody else knows about you (yet!).

I was brought up in a really strict religious household. We used to attend church on average 10 hours per week. No TV, and on Sunday we were confined to barracks. We were allowed to read, though, and strangely not censored.

Finally please recommend 3 books that you have recently read and tell me why you’ve chosen them?

I would recommend Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. It was an incredibly vivid, emotional and mind-boggling true story.

Razor Girl by Carl Hiassen. Incredibly funny crime story. I love all his stuff.

How to be Brave by Louse Beech. Well told story intwining plots from WW2 and the current day. Very evocative.

Who is Alan Jones

Alan Jones is a Scottish Author with three gritty crime stories to his name, the first two set in Glasgow, the third one based in London. Living on the Clyde coast in Ayrshire, he works in the animal health industry, makes furniture and maintains and sails a 40 year old yacht in the Irish Sea and the West coast of Scotland. He writes under a pen name for work related reasons, and is married with grown up children. He loves reading, watching films and cooking. Last year he hung up his football boots as age and a dodgy ankle caught up with him.

His books are not for the faint-hearted, with some strong language, violence and various degrees of sexual content. The first two books also contain a fair smattering of Glasgow slang.
