Tell me about your latest book and why we should read it?
My latest book is called Broken Bones and focusses on prostitution and forced labour. I’ve divided the team and have Dawson and Stacey working one case and Kim and Bryant working the other. If for no other reason people should read it because Kim Stone has to deal with an abandoned baby right at the beginning of the book and anyone who knows Kim Stone can imagine how that might go!!
If someone was to write your life story what would the title be?
I’d call it The Determinator! My dream of being an author was belittled when I was at school as girls in my street were encouraged to learn to type and aspire to clerical work which I did and enjoyed for many years while writing stories around full time jobs. Once I started submitting books to publishers I was rejected for 25 years until Bookouture gave me the opportunity to share Silent Scream but with help and encouragement from my partner I never gave up trying.
What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?
Not so much a fan request but definitely a strange lady named Angela Toni Marson requested I attend court to defend my right to use my own name when publishing my books. When I asked her if she was joking she hurled a great deal of abuse at me. Both strange and entertaining.
If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?
It would be Renita D’Silva. I adore every one of her books and am aiming to kidnap her and make her write for me Misery Style. When I need to escape from everyone and everything I immerse myself in her beautifully woven stories.
Tell me something nobody else knows about you (yet!).
I had to take my driving test while suffering with Bells Palsy which was basically paralysis of the left side of my face. The hardest letters to say are M, N, B and P so great call naming the condition Bells Palsy and trying to explain what you’ve got!
Finally please recommend 3 books that you have recently read and tell me why you’ve chosen these.
A Daughter’s Courage by Renita D’Silva – As mentioned above, I adore this lady’s writing and I love to learn from each book that I read and the depiction of the life of a Devadasi in 1920’s India is still with me now.
Blink by KL Slater – I devour this authors psychological thrillers and love them all but the ending in this book simply blew me away.
Follow You by Richard Parker – The murder scenes were inventive, imaginative and downright terrifying and I will never view an exhaust pipe in the same way again.
Who is Angela Marsons? Angela Marsons is the author of the Amazon Bestselling DI Kim Stone series – Silent Scream, Evil Games, Lost Girls, Play Dead, Blood Lines and Dead Souls and her books have sold more than 2 million in 2 years.
She lives in the Black Country with her partner, their cheeky Golden Retriever and a swearing parrot.
She first discovered her love of writing at Junior School when actual lessons came second to watching other people and quietly making up her own stories about them. Her report card invariably read “Angela would do well if she minded her own business as well as she minds other people’s”.
After years of writing relationship based stories (The Forgotten Woman and Dear Mother) Angela turned to Crime, fictionally speaking of course, and developed a character that refused to go away.
She is signed to Bookouture.com for a total of 16 books in the Kim Stone series and her books have been translated into more than 20 languages.
Her last two books – Blood Lines and Dead Souls – reached the #1 spot on Amazon on pre-orders alone.
