Tell me about Helen, the person behind the blog?
The person behind the blog is sarcastic, bit dizzy at times (most of the time actually), has a love of vibrant hair colour and collects sheep which should explain name of the blog, also I’m not the most patient of people and I have a very short attention span. My life very much revolves around books as I have various roles within the book world – including being a book publicist and I enjoy arranging the occasional blog tour/publicity on a freelance basis as well as a blogger and reviewer and Admin for the greatest book club on Facebook TBC.
When did you start blogging and why?
I began blogging over a year ago, after I started reviewing more and more and it is the perfect way to share my thoughts on the books I had loved reading with fellow readers and not just the publishers.
What are your proudest moments or achievements todate as a blogger?
My proudest moment without a doubt is interviewing Peter James as he has been my favourite author for years now, he was so nice and even calmed me down because I was that nervous, and then my review for Love You Dead appearing on his website. I have achieved so many of my blog related goals and now even have a book related job and I attribute this to making that the leap and starting my blog.
If you had to breakdown the components of your ideal perfect book what would they be?
Great plot that maintains my interest, characters with backbone, realism not unbelievable gibberish, and it needs to flow well regardless of pace.
What is your favourite genre to read?
I will read most things but never ever ever romance. But if I had to pick one it would be crime thrillers.
Tell me your TOP 3 books that you always recommend?
Normal by Graeme Cameron..because it is bloody brilliant end of. Never read a book like it before and one line still makes me laugh.
The Theseus Paradox by David Videcette. Again another book that really made me stop, think and also really question in my head things that seemed so certain before reading it. I am also a huge Jake fan.
See How They Run by Tom Bale. So fast paced, and near on heart stopping in places. A cracking read.
Finally, tell me more about your blog and why we should subscribe
My blog is of book related reviews and stuff and my occasional random thoughts where I attempt to be humorous (a bit hit and miss). You should subscribe to my blog if you like your reviews uncomplicated and fairly brief as I don’t tend to write reems about the virtues of the book so if you want in depth and hugely insightful then I’m not the blogger for you.
