Tell me about your latest book and why we should read it?
It’s about an artist who kills her husband, and then never speaks again. It’s narrated by the psychotherapist who tries to get her talking again, as well as unravel the mystery of what happened the night she killed her husband. It’s Agatha Christie meets psychotherapy, and if you’re interested in either you hopefully might enjoy it.
If someone was to write your life story what would the title be?
Whodunnit?
What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?
I’ll have to get back to you on that one. Maybe when I was asked by someone if I would like to write their autobiography for them. I declined the offer!
If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?
Billy Wilder. Because no one knows more about constructing stories and telling them visually. And he’s incredibly funny.
Tell me something nobody else knows about you (yet!)
I was brought up Roman Catholic, and I used to have to make up sins in Confession, as my real secrets were too terrible to reveal.
Finally please recommend 3 books that you have recently read and tell me why you’ve chosen these.
Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood. I wanted to re-read this as I loved this when I was a teenager. And it’s just as good as I remember. Haunting and unsettling.
The Inheritance by Matthew Lopez – this is a play which I thought was so moving I bought the play to read. And it reads wonderfully, like a novel.
Picking up the Pieces by Paul Britton. He’s a famous forensic psychologist and I found it very interesting. It’s research for my next book.
