Don’t fight him. He’ll win.
Run. Never let him find you.
I thought I was safe here, but I’m not. I’ve stayed too long. Now Genevieve is dead, and the police are on their way. It’s time for me to go.
I must stick to the plan – the one I made the day I arrived in this city. My bag is packed. It always is. I will destroy every shred of evidence of my existence. The police must never find me. If they do, so will he.
I made a mistake, and someone had to die. But I’m the one who has truly lost her life.
I need to make a choice. If I keep running, I’ll never stop. If I go back, he will make me suffer.
How many lives can one person ruin?
My Review:
This is the 10th book in one of my all time favourite series and when Anne Cater of Random Things Tours asked if I would like to be on the tour I literally JUMPED at the chance and it’s my honour and privilege to open the blogtour for CLOSE YOUR EYES.
If you haven’t read any of these books before, you are in for an absolute treat. All these books work exceptionally well as stand-alones and could be read out of sequence (shudder), but I always like to follow the series in the way the author intended so grab yourself a copy of Only The Innocent and thank me later.
Close Your Eyes is the story of Martha who gets caught up in a murder investigation when her bosses wife is found bludgeoned to death. For reasons unknown to the reader, Martha needs to avoid the police at any cost and flees her home removing all traces of her, leaving the police suspicious and keen to track her down. Slowly the author starts to reveal more about Martha and her past which is not a comfortable read, but the reader begins to understand why Martha is so terrified of being caught.
Once again Rachel Abbott has created an original story with a cast of characters who are either fascinating or downright despicable. I felt such sympathy for Martha, but don’t get me started on her mum….!!
As always the book centres around the victim of the crime and whilst this is a DCI Tom Douglas book, the story is primarily told through Martha.
Gripping, page-turning, twisty and original another easy 5 stars from me and I can’t wait for book 11.
