Competitions

Competition – 15th May 2017 – Now Closed

Compulsive Readers and the wonderful Random House UK publishers are absolutely delighted to be able to offer 10 lucky followers a copy of Lisa Jewell’s new book THEN SHE WAS GONE which is being published on 27th July 2017.

THEN
She was fifteen, her mother’s golden girl. She had her whole life ahead of her. And then, in the blink of an eye, Ellie was gone.

NOW
It’s been ten years since Ellie disappeared, but Laurel has never given up hope of finding her daughter.
And then one day a charming and charismatic stranger called Floyd walks into a café and sweeps Laurel off her feet.

Before too long she’s staying the night at this house and being introduced to his nine year old daughter.
Poppy is precocious and pretty – and meeting her completely takes Laurel’s breath away.

Because Poppy is the spitting image of Ellie when she was that age.
And now all those unanswered questions that have haunted Laurel come flooding back.

What happened to Ellie? Where did she go?
Who still has secrets to hide?

To be one of the 10 lucky winners – all you have to do is comment below and tell me WHY you need to read this book?  The competition closes on Thursday 18th May.  This competition is only open to UK addresses.

Good luck! x

Lisa Jewell is one of the best contemporary writers of this century. LIsa’s writing allows you to enter another world shutting out all the worries you may be feeling. Vince & Joy is still one of my favourite novels ever.

Lisa Jewell knows how to engage the reader with believable stories and characters that are easy to relate to. As to WHY I need to read this book – I spend three hours a day commuting, and escaping into books is what makes the journeys bearable. Lisa’s latest offering might make me want to take a slower train!

As a latecomer to Lisa Jewell who thought she wrote chick-lit, I was really pleasantly surprised by an audiobook of I Found You. Seriously clever plot and the characters all felt so ‘real’. Since then read The Girls and also really enjoyed. Love these split timelines building up into a big wowzer moment! Thanks v much, Rachel xxx

Lisa Jewell is my favourite author. I have all of her books and her novels are one reason why I’m still alive today. After suffering with manic depression in 2011, I tried to kill myself. However, through professional help and reading Lisa Jewell’s novels (Thirtynothing and One Hit Wonder especially), I got through the darkest time of my life.

I have a terrible compulsion Lisa, I must read new books, the title, the cover, the description, the smell and the feel of a book draws me in. Not sure if a compulsion or an addiction but either way nothing like holding a new book, curling up, getting cosy and entering the world of an authors mind.
