About the Book: DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY’RE HIDING IN THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR?
From the author of the massive bestseller CLOSE TO HOME, comes the second pulse-pounding DI Fawley crime thriller.
A woman and child are found locked in a basement room, barely alive.
No one knows who they are – the woman can’t speak, and there are no missing persons reports that match their profile. The elderly man who owns the house claims he has never seen them before.
The inhabitants of the quiet Oxford street are in shock. How could this happen right under their noses? But DI Adam Fawley knows that nothing is impossible.
And that no one is as innocent as they seem . . .
My Review: Having finished and LOVED Close to Home, I immediately downloaded In the Dark and started reading it instantly despite have 411 other books on my kindle.
In The Dark follows on from Close to Home and once again the author cleverly uses social media as mini chapters throughout the story bringing the reader up to speed on the case through the eyes of the public. This particular case is topical as it is about a young woman and her child found locked in a basement of an elderly man. DI Adam Fawley and his team are sent to investigate and solve this strange crime.
I’m not going to give anything away, except to say we learn more about DI Adam Fawley and his tragic back story, we get to know the rest of his team better and are introduced to some very strange and disturbing individuals who are “persons of interest” in this case.
Having absolutely loved the first book, it’s always a concern that the 2nd book isn’t as good – but honestly, I think this one is even better. I am now officially a CARA HUNTER fan and eagerly await book 3 which is due out next Feb 2019. I definitely recommend this series to loves of twisty crime thriller.
About the Author: Cara Hunter is a writer who lives in Oxford, in a street not unlike those featured in her series of crime books. Close to Home is her debut featuring DI Adam Fawley, and her second, In the Dark, is coming soon.
