Monthly Round-Ups

Monthly Round Up – July 2018

WOW how quickly did July fly by?  This month has been amazing – the weather has been hot and my favourite book event, Theakston Crime Festival in Harrogate took place from 19th-22nd (see my blog post here), so I was pleasantly surprised to see I still managed to read 12 books during the month.  Once again I’ve selected some books from several genres including YA, True Crime, Psychological Thrillers and there is a superb contemporary novel in there too.

Below are the books I’ve read with links to my full reviews and the Amazon pages.  Hopefully you may be tempted to read 1 or 2 of them yourselves.  Happy Reading!

  1. Elle Croft – The Guilty Wife – A debut psychological thriller which kept me guessing – Read my thoughts here
  2. Clare Empson – Him – A debut psychological thriller – dark and uncomfortable – Read my thoughts here
  3. C C Mono – The Box – the long awaited sequel to the brilliant The Academy.  Read my review here
  4. Louise Beech – The Lion Tamer – Another beautifully written book.  Read my thoughts here
  5. Chris Carter – I am Death – The 7th books in one of my favourite series – Chris Carter gets sicker and twistier than ever.  Read my full review here
  6. Elisa Lodato – An Unremarkable Body – A stunningly beautiful contemporary novel about grief and love.  Read my full review here.

  8. Emmauel Carrere – The Adversary – An indepth account of a true crime that started well but towards the end I found myself skim reading.  Here’s my Goodread’s review.

  10. James Hazel – The Mayfly – Gore, murder, nazi’s and a fabulous main character – check out my full review here
