Monthly Round-Ups

My Monthly Round Up – July 2017

Welcome to this months quick review of what I have read during July.  It was never going to be a busy reading month as July is taken up with several book events and Harrogate Crime Festival from 20th-23rd July, so apart from the train journey up to Harrogate and back again, my reading was limited.  Although I had a BRILLIANT time at Harrogate stalking as many authors as possible, on the day I returned home we had to put our beloved family dog Charlie to sleep after he became seriously ill whilst I was away – so obviously my reading mojo has temporarily disappeared and I therefore dedicate this month’s round up to my beautiful furbaby who has been an integral part of our family for the past 11 years.

Below is the list of what I have read – some I loved, one I didn’t, but you can read the full reviews and see what you think:

  1. In The Shadows – Tara Lyons – Book 1 in a very impressive police procedural/crime series – read my full review here
  2. Dark Matter – Blake Crouch – A serious headf*ck book which left me reeling – read my full review here
  3. No Safe Home – Tara Lyons – Book 2 in this fabulous crime series – read my full review here
  4. Witch Dust – Marilyn Messik  – Another humorous and clever book from a very talented author – read my full review here
  5.  A Stranger in the House – Shari Lapena – A disappointing second book which just didn’t do it for me.  Read my full review here
  6. See What I Have Done – Sarah Smith  – A brutal account of the Lizzie Borden crime beautifully retold.  Read my full review here
  7. The 50/50 Killer – Steve Mosby – A grisly serial killer makes couples choose who should die – Read my full review here
  8. Anatomy of a Scandal – Sarah Vaughan – A tense and intelligent character driven thriller.  Read my full review here
