What She Knew (previously Burnt Paper Sky) – Gilly Macmillan – Genre – Psychological Thriller

In her enthralling debut, Gilly Macmillan explores a mother’s search for her missing son, weaving a taut psychological thriller as gripping and skilful as The Girl on the Train and I Let You Go. Will also appeal to fans of The Missing.

But what really happened that fateful afternoon?

Caught between her personal tragedy and a public who have turned against her, there is nobody left who Rachel can trust. But can the nation trust Rachel?

The clock is ticking to find Ben alive.

WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON?

My Review:  A highly emotional story which grabbed me from the first chapter. A truly awful situation of an 8 year old boy called Ben who is abducted whilst out in the woods with his mother. Told from the perspective of both Rachel the mother and Jim the detective in charge of the case, this harrowing tale highlights the destructive side of the press and how quick the public are to blame the parents. I listened to this on audible and could not switch it off, even sitting in my car on my driveway just to hear another chapter. Heartbreaking, harrowing and highly recommended.
