My Review
Once again Rachel Abbott proves why she is one of the best crime fiction writers around and as always it’s a pleasure to sit down with DCI Tom Douglas and catch up on his life and try to solve a crime or two.
Right Behind You is the 9th book in the DCI Tom Douglas series and Rachel Abbott is amongst a small handful of authors that I would read without even glancing at the blurb!
All of these books work exceptionally well as standalones and if you haven’t read any yet, you really should – I always start a series at the beginning and thoroughly recommend all 9 books.
In Right Behind You we meet Jo Palmer, a part-time actress, full time mummy to daughter Millie and loving partner to Ash, a successful paediatric surgeon. On the surface Jo seems to have it all until one night there is a knock at the door and her world is turned upside down, inside out and ripped apart at the seams when the police arrive to accuse Ash of an unspeakable crime against her daughter and social services take Millie away for questioning.
As a mother and wife, my heart was literally beating out of my chest, it was heart-breaking to see Jo’s life fall apart and then the realisation that not everything is what it seems, especially when she rings the police station a few hours later to find out where her family are and there is no record of any arrest.
Another page turning, knicker-gripping thriller from Rachel Abbott and I can’t wait to read book 10.
