The Annie Carter books are tough, glamorous, gripping, romantic (Max Carter is great!!) and impossible to put down.
If someone was to write your life story what would the title be?
If someone was to write my life story the title would be CHAOS! I’ve had an incredibly hectic up-and-down life, being born into a wealthy family and then when the family firm went bust ending up living on a council estate and earning six pounds a week to survive on. I’ve suffered through divorce, bereavement, and come out the other side; it’s been tough. But then my books took off, completely unexpectedly, and now I can finally say I’m comfortable with where I am in life.
What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?
I’ve been asked to write my autograph on someone’s breasts!
If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?
That’s a tough one because I am very much a solitary worker. I admire Conan Doyle’s work, and because I enjoy a laugh I do love Marian Keyes. But I work alone!

Finally please recommend 3 books that you have recently read and tell me why you’ve chosen these.
a) Marian Keyes’s Making It Up As I Go Along. It’s just a happy book, I love it.
b) River God by Wilbur Smith. You really do believe you’re in ancient Egypt. It’s fabulous.
c) Got to be cheeky here and say I’ve just read the final edits of my own book out next year, FEARLESS. It’s about a Romany bare-knuckle fighter and the two women in his life, and it’s very personal to me. It’s also HUGE at 135,000 words. I never thought I’d get to the end of writing it!
