Tell me about your latest book and why we should read it?
Cold Blood is the fifth book in my Erika Foster series, which can also be read as a standalone book. In this story, Erika Foster is handed the case of a body found chopped up and dumped in the river Thames in a suitcase, then another body is found in the same circumstances and Erika discovers that not only is there two bodies, but two killers, working together. As the body count rises, she finds herself outwitted at every turn.

He got there in the end
What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?
I’m still very early on in my writing career to have had any weird fan requests. I used to be an actor, and one of the weirdest things that happened was when I was working at the opening of a very posh hotel in London. I was dressed as an 18th century footman, and the drinks were flowing. I was approached by a very severe looking woman who I thought wanted to complain about something, but she said that she would pay me £100 if her husband could borrow the huge curly wig I was wearing (cue her pointing to a small red-faced bald man leaning nonchalantly against a pillar). I asked her what she wanted it for, and she also went red and said they wanted to ‘have some fun with it’. I hesitated and she upped the offer to £150, which at the time would have been very handy, but I just couldn’t contemplate having to put it back on after they’d finished with it.
If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?
Sue Townsend. She was a genius, I re-read her books all the time, and I would love to have met her.

I used to write comedy material for Jennifer Coolidge.
