Tell me about the person behind the blog?
Hi, I’m Sharon and hail from a wee town just outside of Glasgow. I recently left my 40s behind and I’m embracing the freedom that being in my 50s brings to do start walking into rooms and instead of caring if people like me I’m now thinking more of do I like them! I live with my 2 grown up kids and our crazy Golden Lab Cooper and 2 cats! I work full time as a manager in the 3rd sector and outside work my life revolves around books and author stalking – they don’t call me #SAS for nothing!
When did you start blogging and why?
I started blogging in 2015 but didn’t really make it public until the end of that year. I wanted somewhere I could keep a note of all the books I read and my thoughts on them. I then plucked up the courage to share them with the rest of the world and now it is just a part of what I do!
What are your proudest moments or achievements todate as a blogger?
So many to mention but this week it has to be being given the opportunity to blog the exclusive cover reveal for Michael J Malone’s new book “Dog Fight” which is published in April. Huge thanks to Michael and Saraband Books for giving me the opportunity to do this! This and seeing my quotes used to market books, acknowledgements and a couple of cameo roles within the books I love….ohhh and the fact that I can now go to events and know authors to speak to….oh and my feature week for Book Week Scotland in November last year with some fab Scottish authors taking part…..everyone of these are a reason to go EEEEEEEEEEEEEK
If you had to breakdown the components of your ideal perfect book what would they be?
When reading a book, I want to be dropped into the middle of the setting, I want to see, hear and smell my surroundings; I want characters who I can connect with, a plot that keeps me hooked and leaves me feeling a loss when I close the page – I want the book to embrace me!
What is your favourite genre to read?
Easy – crime fiction, psychological thrillers – especially Scottish based!
If you had to choose 3 books to recommend what would they be and why?
Sealskin by Su Bristow, although it’s not my typical genre there is something beautifully evocative about it, it sends shivers down my spine and compels me to find a secluded spot on the North East of Scotland to read it amongst the seals; Bloq by Alan Jones as it is one of the best self published books I have read – I can’t go to Glasgow Central Station anymore without an image of Bill in my head and A Suitable Lie by Michael J Malone for being so outstandingly brave to approach the issue of domestic violence against men and take a stance against stereotypes
