You know those books that everyone gives 5 stars to and tells you that you must read it next? Those over-hyped books that all your bookworm friends are raving about and you aren’t sure whether you should read it or wait until the hype dies down? Daisy Jones and The Six was one of those books for me and in my humble opinion it was absolutely worth the hype and the wait!
“Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll” is basically the entire premise of this book and I bloody loved it. Daisy Jones and The Six has been written in the style of a transcript from an interview between an journalist and Daisy Jones and the band members of The Six – “THE” band of the 70’s, plus their family, friends, managers and those closest to the band in their heyday.
The fast pacey dialogue had me absolutely fascinated from the beginning and I was transported back in time to the 70’s rock and roll scene in America watching the band from their early days to the height of their fame.
Daisy Jones and The Six maybe a fictional band but they felt absolutely real and authentic to me whilst reading about their personal experience of being part of the biggest band in the 70’s. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this book. A wonderful collection of flawed characters, observational humour with an atmospheric and authentic setting and I was truly captivated throughout the book.
