Shari Lapena is one of my go-to authors when I am need of a quick fix of a guaranteed good read.
Getting Away With Murder is Shari’s latest book published on 28th July and has all the usual hallmarks of her previous books.
If you are looking for a thriller with really unlikeable characters, let me introduce you to Ted and Jill. The most obnoxious and despicable human beings I’ve read about in a long time.
Married and living way beyond their ample means, they live in a stunning brownstone in New York. Childless by choice, they have spent every last penny from Ted’s inheritance on this house. However, when Ted makes a very, very bad investment they could potentially lose everything.. so what would YOU do? Hopefully not what they do and that is plan to murder a very wealthy family member and inherit millions and millions of dollars.
As distasteful as this is, in a hugely entertaining and enjoyable way, and as despicable as Ted and Jill are, the reader is taken on a rollercoaster journey to find out if they actually do Get Away With Murder!
