I am delighted to be on the #blogtour for James Oswald’s brilliant new book NO TIME TO CRY and my thanks to Anne Cater for inviting me and providing a copy of the book.
About the book: From one of the UK’s biggest crime writers – the man brought you the bestselling Inspector McLean novels – comes a phenomenal new series guaranteed to have your heart in your mouth.
Undercover ops are always dangerous, but DC Constance Fairchild never expected things to go this wrong.
Returning to their base of operations, an anonymous office in a shabby neighbourhood, she finds the bloodied body of her boss, and friend, DI Pete Copperthwaite. He’s been executed – a single shot to the head.
In the aftermath, it seems someone in the Met is determined to make sure that blame for the wrecked operation falls squarely on Con’s shoulders. She is cut loose and cast out, angry and alone with her grief… right until the moment someone also tries to put a bullet through her head.
There’s no place to hide, and no time to cry.
My Review: This is the first in an exciting new police thriller series featuring DC Constance Fairchild and to anyone who loves strong characters, intriguing plot lines, clever twists and dry humour, then I fully recommend reading this book.
No Time To Cry features the wonderful DC Constance (Con to her friends) Fairchild. A really believable and cracking character with strong opinions, an unusual family background and a determination to find the truth whatever the cost. When she discovers the dead body of her boss and mentor DI Pete Copperthwaite in their undercover offices in London, her life is literally turned upside down. Implicated in his murder, Con is on a mission to find out who killed her friend and why.
This book has so many wonderful characters and I found myself racing through the story thoroughly entertained and loving Con’s approach to life and the numerous obstacles she literally has to jump over to catch the killer. A fast paced and gripping police thriller that will not disappoint.
