My Review: The Fear is C.L. Taylor’s latest psychological thriller and possibly in my opinion her best yet.

I am currently recuperating from an operation and have spent the past few days alternating between sky tv dramas and Netflix, so when the broadband failed this morning and I couldn’t watch TV I started this book.

I often try to work out what makes a book “stand out” for me and this one simply grabbed me from the start and actually didn’t let go until the final page.

Even when I put the book down to make coffee or eat lunch I was thinking about the story, the characters, the plot line, the subject matter. I think I actually may have become slightly addicted to this book.

Yes, it’s an uncomfortable subject matter, child grooming, paedophilia and child abduction. Yes, there is extreme violence and underage sex. However, unfortunately we know from recent news reports this does occur in the real world, but C.L. Taylor has managed to create a page turning, gripping thriller which I thought was brilliant and easily give 5 stars.

About the Author: C.L. Taylor is the Sunday Times bestselling author of five gripping, stand-alone psychological thrillers: THE ACCIDENT, THE LIE, THE MISSING, THE ESCAPE and THE FEAR. THE ESCAPE won the Dead Good Books ‘Hidden Depths’ award for the Most Unreliable Narrator and THE LIE has been optioned for TV by The Forge who produced National Treasure featuring Robbie Coltrane.
