The Third Wife – Lisa Jewell

In the early hours of an April morning, Maya stumbles into the path of an oncoming bus.

A tragic accident? Or suicide? Her grief-stricken husband, Adrian, is determined to find out.

Maya had a job she enjoyed; she had friends. They’d been in love.
She even got on with his two previous wives and their children. In fact, they’d all been one big happy family.

But before long Adrian starts to identify the dark cracks in his perfect life.
Because everyone has secrets.
And secrets have consequences.
Some of which can be devastating

My Review: Wow. This is my first book by Lisa Jewell and definitely not my last. In fact I have now downloaded 3 more to read. I loved this book and devoured it within a couple of days. Lisa’s style of writing is brilliant, her characters are interesting, entriguing and it’s easy to feel empathy or sympathy for them. She brings them alive. The storyline is interesting dealing with an extended family – step brothers/mothers/half sisters etc and I was able to relate very closely to alot of the children’s emotions. I gave this 4.5 stars instead of 5 stars purely because of the ending… and without giving anything away – it just didn’t sit true or likely to me… real life isn’t always neatly packaged up with a bow! However a great book and highly recommend it.
