Tell me about your latest book and why we should read it?
2018 is an exciting year for me because I have not one but two books out! The first is a novella called A Woman Scorned, about a woman who will do anything for revenge and to protect what’s hers. My second book out in 2018 is my third full-length novel, Before Her Eyes, about a blind woman who stumbles across a murder with the killer still at the scene, and her life is changed forever – because although she can’t see the killer, the killer can see her…
If someone was to write your life story what would the title be?
Jack-in-the-Book. This question made me wish I’d become a stripper, so my biography could be named ‘Jack the Stripper’. I guess there’s still time!
What’s the strangest fan question or request you’ve received?
I haven’t had anyone ask me to sign a body part yet, but I have become accustomed to being asked to give advice to aspiring writers… a lot. Just last week I had my dentist asking me how to get published mid-check up. I think that’s the epitome of the phrase ‘don’t talk with your mouth full’.
If you could co-write with anyone in the world (alive or dead) who would it be?
Agatha Christie. Hands down.
Tell me something nobody else knows about you (yet!).
Readers are always remarking how young I am, when in fact, I’m actually 59 with a great skin care regime. You’re not sharing this with anyone, right?
Finally please recommend 3 books that you have recently read and tell me why you’ve chosen these.
Fingersmith by Sarah Waters. This is one of those books that had me recommending it to anyone who would listen. Historical fiction with a mix of love, deceit, and lots of twists and turns.
This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay. The ups and downs of the life of a junior doctor, filled with funny and sad moments, as well as shocking revelations about who is on the other end of the scalpel.
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. A brilliant book about discrimination, injustice, and survival. A definite must-read.
