Tell me about the person behind the blog?
I’m Jacob and I am in my early twenties. I’ve always loved reading, my earliest memories of when I first fell in love with reading is from listening to The Famous Five and Harry Potter tapes. I actually couldn’t wait to go to bed so I could put another one on. Recently I have discovered a true passion for crime fiction and psychological thrillers which is what I review on my blog.
When did you start blogging and why?
I set up my book blog in June 2016 after seeing so many book bloggers out there on Twitter, I thought it would be a great way to spread the word about books that I have read and loved. The book blogging community has been such a great community to part of, everyone is really supportive of each other.
What are your proudest moments or achievements to date as a blogger?
I think my proudest moment to date would have to be seeing one of my reviews quoted in an actual book; I couldn’t stop talking about it when I first found out that my review was going to be quoted. Since I’ve started blogging it’s given me the confidence to attend book festivals which I wouldn’t have done so on my own a couple of years ago and by doing so I’ve met some great book bloggers and authors in person.
If you had to breakdown the components of your ideal perfect book what would they be?
For me, a book has to have a strong pitch to grab my attention. I have a huge TBR pile at the moment to get through, so when I see book that has that strong hook, it’s always bumped up to the top of my pile. Great characters as well, there have been a few books I have read recently which I didn’t want to end as I felt I had got to know the characters so well, that’s always the sign of a great book and great writing.
What is your favourite genre to read?
I love crime fiction and psychological thrillers. I love trying to work out what’s going to happen or who the culprit is, sometimes I have managed to guess it but I love those moments when the author really knocks you for six.
Tell me your TOP 3 books that you always recommend and why?
I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh, because the twist was amazing and I still haven’t forgotten it more than a year after I read it.
Tall Oaks by Chris Whitaker, I really liked the characters in this novel, it was one of those books that I didn’t want to end because I got to know the characters so well.
And finally Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough, I never saw that twist at the end coming, it really blew me away.

On my blog, Hooked From Page One, you’ll find all of my latest reviews. I’m always buying books, more than I’ll ever be able to keep up with and I’ll be recommending all of my favourites. I also occasionally run giveaways and take part in blog tours which can feature author interviews and guest posts.
