About the Author:
Samantha M. Bailey is a Toronto-based novelist, freelance editor, and journalist who has written extensively for Now Magazine, Oxford University Press, and many other publications. She is the co-founder of “BookBuzz,” a promotional and interactive author event held in New York City and Toronto. She holds a Master of Education in Applied Linguistics and credits that degree with her writing career because she wrote her first (unpublished) novel after taking a course on imagination. Now her imagination leads her to create dark and twisty stories, and her debut psychological thriller, WOMAN ON THE EDGE, will be published by Simon and Schuster Canada and Headline UK, and translated into seven languages. She loves reading as much as writing, so when not tapping away on her computer, she’s probably curled up with a really good book.
My Review:
OMG this book is a heart pounding, roller coaster of emotions from the horrific opening chapter to the end and the words “gripping, page-turner” describes Woman on The Edge perfectly.
With two strong but flawed and emotionally damaged main characters Woman on the Edge really takes the reader on a twisted journey and it was one hell of a ride for me personally.
Morgan is a recent widow who is dealing with the aftermath of her husband’s suicide and the devastating repercussions of his actions. She’s barely coping when a chance meeting on a train platform changes her life forever.
Nicole is a new mother to a beautiful little girl with a multi-million dollar company to run and a loving husband, on the surface everything appears to be wonderful, but something has driven her to suicide.
Told through alternating chapters we find out what happened to these two women through present day and the events leading up to the suicide and believe me, it’s not an easy read. With themes of mental health issues, suicide and guilt Woman on the Edge doesn’t gloss over these issues, but brings them screaming and shouting to the reader in a tightly plotted, well written debut.
Fans of twisty, twisted psychological thrillers will LOVE Woman on the Edge and I thoroughly recommend it.
