Your Deepest Fear – David Jackson (DS Nathan Cody #4)

As a HUGE fan of David Jackson I was absolutely thrilled and overly excited to see he has a new book coming out featuring DS Nathan Cody and practically BEGGED the publisher Bonnier to let me get some of my fellow bloggers together to help spread the word and share the #booklove.

So I am honoured to be opening the #blogtour with fellow superfan Joanne Robertson today and remember to check out her blog after you’ve finished reading mine.

About the Book:  ‘Sara! Remember! Victoria and Albert. All I can say. They’re here. They’re-‘

These are the last words Sara Prior will ever hear from her husband.

As DS Nathan Cody struggles to make sense of the enigmatic message and solve the brutal murder, it soon becomes clear that Sara is no ordinary bereaved wife. Taking the investigation into her own hands, Sara is drawn into a world of violence that will lead her in a direction she would never have suspected.

For Cody, meanwhile, things are about to get personal in the darkest and most twisted ways imaginable .

About the Author: David Jackson is the author of a series of crime thrillers featuring Irish-American NYPD Detective Callum Doyle. The first in the series, Pariah, was Highly Commended in the Crime Writers Association Debut Dagger Awards. It is published by Pan Macmillan. His writing influences include Ed McBain, Dennis Lehane, George Pelecanos, Robert Crais, Michael Connelly and Harlan Coben, amongst many others. His favourite quote about his work is one from the Guardian, now carried on the front of his novels: ‘Recalls Harlan Coben – though for my money Jackson is the better writer.’  DS Nathan Cody is a new series.

My Review:  Where do I start?  I could start by saying I am one of David Jackson’s BIGGEST fans – having loved every single book he has written.  Or that Callum Doyle was my fictional fantasy boyfriend until I met Nathan Cody, or that Don’t Make a Sound went straight into my Top Ten books of 2018 when I read it last March, but I think you are beginning to get the picture.  I ABSOLUTELY LOVE DAVID JACKSON’S BOOKS and YOUR DEEPEST FEAR is no exception.

Do you need to read these books in order?  Can this be read as a standalone?  No and Yes – however once again I would say to get the full “Jackson Joy” you should start at the beginning of this series (A Tapping at My Door #1, Hope to Die #2, Don’t Make a Sound #3) to understand the personalities of the main characters, their back stories and also because the first 3 books are absolutely BRILLIANT.

YOUR DEEPEST FEAR brings DS Nathan Cody (Cody to his friends) to breaking point, having to face his deepest fear whilst trying to solve a horrific murder, conquer his emotional demons and save his job.  It’s an emotional rollercoaster, full of tension, clowns, frightening bad guys, a superb kick-ass heroine and a difficult crime to solve.

Fans of DS Nathan Cody will love that YOUR DEEPEST FEAR focuses much more on Cody this time than previous books bringing his vulnerability to the forefront of the story which for me personally was refreshing and added another depth to this wonderful series.  Another knock-out from Mr Jackson – BRAVO.
